Rules of Conduct for Drivers in Austria
- Purchase a valid vignette before entering motorways
- Correctly affix vignette to windscreen
- Observe speed limits (motorway: 130 km/h)
- Maintain safe following distance
- Carry winter equipment from November to April
- Warning triangle and high-visibility vest in vehicle
- Carry first aid kit
- No phone use without hands-free device
- Blood alcohol limit: 0.5‰ (0.1‰ for new drivers)
- Keep right on motorways
- Breakdown assistance: ÖAMTC 120, ARBÖ 123
- Emergency: 112 (Europe-wide), 133 (Police), 144 (Ambulance)
